Research and verification standards
How LaundromatPrices collects and verifies prices
Our directory is built from prices published by laundromats on their own websites. Every displayed price must have an identifiable original source and a recorded checked date.
This page explains what qualifies for inclusion, how prices are recorded, how comparisons are calculated, and how corrections are handled.
1. Source requirements
We use the shop's own published website
A laundromat is eligible for a price listing only when it publishes pricing information on its own website.
The business's website is the source of record. We use its published service or pricing pages to establish the prices and terms displayed in the directory.
Sources that qualify
- The laundromat's own published pricing pages.
- Official service pages on the laundromat's website containing published price information.
- Official business pages that state the applicable machine pricing or service charges.
Information that does not establish a price
- Third-party directory prices.
- Customer-reported amounts without an official published price source.
- Estimates based on another laundromat's prices.
- Assumed fees or charges that the business does not publish.
If a shop does not publish prices on its own website, it does not qualify for inclusion in this price directory.
2. What we record
Published pricing is preserved as stated
Each shop record contains the business information and published pricing details supported by its own website.
Business information
- Shop name.
- City and state.
- Metro area.
- Official business website.
Washer pricing
Washer prices are recorded by the machine capacities stated by the business. We do not infer a machine's capacity from its price or from information published elsewhere.
Dryer pricing
Dryer charges are recorded with their published billing interval. A price associated with a stated number of minutes remains tied to that interval.
Wash-and-fold pricing
Wash-and-fold records include the published per-pound rate when available, along with the stated minimum order requirement or minimum fee.
Pickup and delivery
Whether pickup and delivery are offered, and any published fee, are recorded from the shop's own information.
If a detail is not published, it remains unpublished. We do not fill missing fields with estimates or assumptions.
3. Price attribution
Every displayed price has a source and date
A price cannot be displayed unless its record contains both a source name and a checked date. The original source URL is retained.
Our required attribution format
Price as published by [source name]
Checked YYYY-MM-DD
The source name identifies the business publishing the price. The checked date identifies when the published information was reviewed.
The source link allows visitors to consult the original business information directly.
Records without a source name, source URL, or checked date are not displayed as verified price listings.
We preserve the published amount rather than rounding it or replacing it with a calculated market estimate.
4. Comparison calculations
How metro comparisons and medians work
Metro pages organize the priced shops collected for that metro. Their comparisons use the records actually present in the supplied dataset.
Wash-and-fold comparisons
Wash-and-fold prices are compared using the published per-pound rate where one is available.
Per-bag prices are not converted into per-pound prices without a published basis for that conversion.
Metro medians
A metro median is calculated from the eligible published prices in that metro. It does not represent shops without collected records.
Only records with a published wash-and-fold per-pound price contribute to that per-pound median.
National snapshot
The national wash-and-fold snapshot is calculated from the eligible per-pound prices in the collected dataset.
It is a median of collected records, not a claim that every laundromat in the country has been surveyed. It is not labelled a representative national average.
Sorting and comparisons
Metro shop comparisons prioritize the published wash-and-fold per-pound price when available. Shops without that price are not assigned an invented value or given an assumed position in the per-pound comparison.
5. Verification and updates
How records are checked and maintained
Records are checked against the business's own published website before being treated as verified listings.
Initial verification
- Locate the business's official website.
- Find its published pricing information.
- Record the applicable prices and terms supported by that source.
- Store the source name and original URL.
- Record the date the information was checked.
- Publish only records that meet the source and date requirements.
Ongoing updates
Published prices can change without notice. We use the checked date on each record to show when its source information was last reviewed.
We review reported price changes and corrections against the business's own published website before changing a record.
Records may also be reviewed during ongoing maintenance. There is no guarantee that every business website will be checked at a fixed interval.
When information cannot be verified
If a source is unavailable, no longer supports the displayed information, or cannot establish the published price, the information is not represented as newly verified.
6. Corrections
How to report an inaccurate listing
We welcome corrections from readers and businesses.
If you find an outdated price, incorrect machine capacity, broken source link, or inaccurate service detail, send us the listing and the relevant official business webpage.
A correction submission is a request for review, not an automatic change. We check the information against the original published source before updating a record.
Report a price change using the price reporting form, or use the correction form below.
Correction request
Submit a correction
Identify the shop and the information that needs reviewing. Include the official website or direct source page supporting your correction.
Important
Corrections must be supported by the business's own published information. Unverified amounts are not added to price records.
Price reporting
Found a changed laundry price?
Use the dedicated price reporting form to identify an outdated price and provide the business's current official pricing page.
Report a price changeOur price research standard
Independent price research, not a quote. Figures are prices published by the source named, checked on the date shown; your price may differ.
Always confirm current prices and service conditions directly with the laundromat.
